WEST COLUMBIA Services for George O. Reeder, 86, of West Columbia, SC, will be held at 11am Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Brookland United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Robert Cannon and Rev. Carol Cannon. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Reeder’s grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00pm Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be to Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting St., West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mr. Reeder passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 6, 2006. Born in Johnsonville, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph Curran Reeder and Violet Prosser Reeder Tanner. Mr. Reeder was an active member of Brookland United Methodist Church in excess of 50 years where he was devoted to serving his Lord in numerous capacities. He was retired from Winn Dixie.

Mr. Reeder was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carrie M. Hicks Reeder of West Columbia; daughter, Dorothy Reeder Walker of Jacksonville, FL; sons, George E. Reeder and Bill Reeder, both of West Columbia, Richard Reeder of Keller, TX; three sisters; two brothers; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Mr. Reeder was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Reeder; grandsons, John Walker and Christopher Reeder; sister, Sarah Fallaw; and brother, Charles Tanner.
