Mr. Rhodes, I don't know of another teacher or principal that I have heard so many students feel so endeared to. I know you knew how much I cared for you and that feeling never waned. You had a way of making students feel as though their opinions matter. I used to tell people that you were like a present-day Socrates. You meant more to me than any other teacher I've ever had, including professors. May you rest in peace.

Dr. Rhodes was my mentor and responsible for my successful professional career with the US Department of Education. He was also responsible for my becoming a Policy Fellow, with the Institute of Educational Leadership, which opened many doors doing my tenure at the department and after retirement.
