George A. Saffo, 92, known by many as "The Duke", passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anastasia Saffo, and by his wife, Sophia Contes Saffo.

OMG I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF THE PASSING OF THIS WONDERFUL AND GRACIOUS man George A Saffo. Unfortunately we did not know of his passing untiL we were told just 3 days ago by a member of the Saffo family, or we would have been there to pay our respects to our life long family friend. He will be greatly missed by us and all -Kim O'Sullivan Tow.

No words are big enough to convey what George meant to my family.He was truly the most humble, generous, and authentic person I have ever met.My children adored him, as did Craig and I. To say we will miss him is a tremendous understatement. Fly high, George, we will see you again.
