Hillview Funeral Chapels - Gustine Obituary

George Anthony Salsa, Jr., 75, of Gustine, California died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 1, 2023.

George was born on August 28, 1947 in Gustine, CA to Mary and George Salsa. He graduated from Gustine High School and attended California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. After college, George returned to Gustine and devoted his life to the dairy industry. After retirement, he really enjoyed working with his CDQAP colleagues and all of the dairymen throughout the state of California. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and he was a friend to everyone he met. He loved spending time with his family, attending Spring Training in Scottsdale, collecting dairy, farm, and sports memorabilia, and watching old westerns.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Goman Salsa, his sister Mary Ann McGroarty (Craig) and his four children; George Salsa (Shannon), Susan Salsa, Michael Salsa (Tiffany), and Albert Salsa (Krisiey). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Nathan Toomey, Delaney Toomey, Carra Ford, Alexandria Salsa, Carina Ford, Michael Salsa, Kalista Salsa, and Angelina Salsa. George was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and George Salsa, and his brother, Frank Salsa.

Not sure what to say?

I only read of George's passing last night. Susanne would often mention George remembering the trip to Sacramento where he was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. George always shared his smile, humor and warm heart with others. We send our condolences, prayers, and hugs to all of the family.

Carol and family
Although I wasn't physically there with you, I have thought about you and prayed for you and your family these last 2 days during George's rosary and funeral. Friends do not forget friends even though they may be far apart.
Love always, Linda Nervino Snyder,Eugene,Oregon

I was sad to hear George passed away. Like George, I have worked in the dairy industry for most of my adult life. Early on in my career with Carnation Milk Company in Gustine, part of my training was meeting and spending time training with the State Dairy Inspector, that is when I met George. We spent many days visiting local dairymen and driving around the country side, we even found time to visit a few dounghnut shops along the way !!! I thought I had the best job in the world !! ...

Carol, our condolences to you and your family. We enjoyed reconnecting with the two of you and really enjoyed the company of you both. Loved George’s sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. You are in our prayers.

Bud and Carla

To my best college friends George and Carol our heartfelt sadness to his family. It was so wonderful to rekindle our friendship over the past several years when George would travel to Humboldt county for dairy inspections. Our heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Friends always Pam and Jim Smith

I am so sorry to hear about George passing. The California dairy industry lost a good one. I worked closely with him for many years and not only was he a counter-part, I considered him a true friend. I will never forget the time we were trying to figure out a complex water problem and we game up with the name "confaluted water". The name stuck and it became nationally know. George will be forever remembered.

So sorry to hear about George's passing. I have nothing but fond memories of George and Carol. My condolences to Carol and the entire family.
