Friend seems in many ways too bold and yet too thin a word to encompass my affection for George. We met through work at U-M in early 70s, played poker and softball together, go know each other's wives and sense of family roots... and found a way to touch base many springs in Tucson... alas, not enough! George was loving in his own way and fiercely loyal to those he loved. May his soul rest in peace.

It's hard to believe that it was almost 22 years ago that I became part of George's family. One of my favorite memories with George was when Ken and I were dating. It was one of the first times I met him, and George did his classic test of quizzing me about my hockey knowledge. Of course, it was about one of his beloved Detroit Red Wings players.
