George F. Sasara, 92, of Orefield passed away on December 16, 2018. He was the loving husband of Mary C. (Hutnyan) Sasara to whom he was married 67 years in July. Born in Allentown, May 23, 1926, George was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Plescatch) Czaczara. He was a graduate of the former South Whitehall High School. George was a veteran of WWII, having honorably served in the Army Air Corps., attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the 9th Flight Squadron, 49th group, stationed in Chitose, Japan. He was an airplane line chief and supervised the repairs of the P51 fighter aircraft and the B29 bombers. George was employed by the former ESB/Exide Battery Co. in Allentown until his retirement in 1991. George was a recreational pilot and a former member of the Sky 10 flight club at Queen City Airport. He is a member of the Quiet Birdmen, and the United Flying Octogenarians (UFO). He was also a member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post # 16, Slatington. George was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Mary; children, Debra A. Sampson (Robert), Jeffrey G. Sasara (Jackie); grandchildren, Kate Dalman (John), Rebecca Sampson, Amy and Adam Sasara; great-grandchildren, Cora, Hunter and Violet Grace; sister, Marie Dean; predeceased by sister, Dorothy Makovsky.Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am. Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield. Visitation at the church will be from 9:30 AM until 10:50 AM. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.George's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the care, support and compassion he received from his doctors, nurses, friends, neighbors, the Veterans Administration staff, and Lehigh Valley Hospice.Memorial contributions: May be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America and/or Lehigh Valley Hospice c/o the funeral home, P.O.
