Scherer, George R. May 9, 2007, Age 83, Late of Country Club Hills. Beloved Husband of the late Margaret Scherer (nee Brzozowski), dear Father of Marion Scherer (David) Stengel of Oxnard, CA and Anne Madora Scherer of Rochester, MN, cherished grandfather of Lauren Metcalfe, loving brother of Norma Plumlee of DuQuoin, IL and August Scherer of Herrin, IL. Mr. Scherer received his BS in Piano from the Julliard School in New York City in l948, Masters of Music in Piano from Roosevelt Univ. in l952; studied with Rudolph Ganz. Teacher for Chicago Board of Education from 1954-l985. Professional Chorister with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus from 1965-1970. Instructor at Fenger High School from 1971-l973; The Fenger High School Choir, led by Mr. Scherer, appeared four seasons with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1968-1971. A Composer of music for chorus and piano; author of "Scherer, A Genealogy", 1996. Recipient (with choir) 16 superior awards in city and state contests from 1960-1975. Member of American Guild of Music Artists, Julliard School Music Alumni Assn., Roosevelt University Alumni Assn. Mr. Scherer loved painting, genealogy, and piano. Resting at Tews Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment Assumption Cemetery. (708)798-5300.

Hi Dad, May 8 Missing you and my dog Sasha you would have liked her. David my husband is not doing well. Just had a second heart replacement valve put in. That´s life I guess. Miss your piano, it always set the mood in our house.

Dear Dad, I was thinking about you again yesterday. Do you remember that beautiful stick you gave to me after sanding and polishing it up? It´s in my kitchen. I´m still living in Minnesota and yes, it is still cold. I can´t believe that I´m going to be 71 years of age this year. I meditate every day. I love nature. I live alone with my cat, Zella. Hi Dad, What a year it´s been for me. I was ill for five months but as of May 2024 I am okay. My dearest Sasha, a golden retriever that we´ve had for fifteen years died yesterday so it´s been a very sad time for us. If you see Sasha say hi and tell her who you are.
