D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall Obituary

SCHOENER George F. Schoener passed away peacefully in West Chester, PA. at age 92. He was born on June 6, 1928 in Philadelphia to Charles and Anna Schoener. He grew up in Southwest Philadelphia with his six siblings and graduated from John Bartram High School. In 1952, George married the love of his life, Irene Nocito. They raised seven children in Swarthmorewood and West Chester, PA. As a father, George served as a true role model with his positive attitude, hard work ethic, selflessness and kindness toward others. George and Irene were married for sixty-eight years. George started his career as a Loan Officer for The Broad Street Trust Co.in Philadelphia. He then went on to work for Continental Bank (now PNC Bank) in Philadelphia and Norristown for over 37 years, where he served as Assistant Vice President. While working full-time at the bank, George attended Saint Joseph's University part-time in the evenings and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business over the course of nine years. In addition to being a successful Banker, George earned his real estate license and worked for many years as a realtor. He was also a man of many talents. He was an artist, singer and self-taught magician. He could play the piano by ear and often carried a harmonica to entertain his family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Sea Isle City and loved to play pinochle. These special times were filled with laughter and fun. George was a devoted husband and caring father. He loved his grandchildren, often entertaining them with his magic, card tricks and corny jokes. He would amaze them with his paper airplanes that could fly forever. George was a devout Catholic and attended Malvern Retreat House for 65 years. George is predeceased by his siblings Charles, Joseph, Alice, Rita, and Anna, and by his son George. He is survived by his wife Irene, sons Gary, Glenn (Cheryl), Greg, Thomas (Mercedes), Stephen (Betsy), daughter Irene Riccardo (Jerry), and daughter in law Patrice and his sister Evelyn, thirteen grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews, and by his best friends Anthony Brisgone and Frank Stanzione. George's personality, charm and good nature always put a smile on those around him. His kind and generous spirit, and his ability to entertain anyone and everyone, will be dearly missed. Relatives & Friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, July 25th at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 430 Valleybrook Rd. Glen Mills, PA. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Int. Dear Aunt Irene and Cousins,
Although I haven't seen you in a long time it is very difficult for me to say goodbye to Uncle George.
I will always cherish the fond memories and his gift of telling corny jokes.
You are all in my Prayers

Aunt Irene and cousins, I will never forget the many family reunions where my father and our many aunts and uncles would get on a roll and entertain us all for hours. Uncle George was always the ring leader. Uncle George has been a mentor and role model to so many. We love and continue to pray for you guys.
