I had not known George had died but since I didn't receive his unflaggingly prompt birthday card and since his birthday is coming up, I wanted to look him up. What a shock. Oh Gloria, you must be devastated! He was always such a good and kind father figure (with the word's best sense of humor) to all of us in the profession. And we adored him, truly we did. He was my mentor, my father, my advisor, and my cherished friend. His loss will be mourned across this country and Europe as well. ...

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My mom told me about Mr. (Dr.) Schoolfield's passing. I have wonderful childhood memories of much time spent spent in your home, listening to Mr. Schoolfield play his french horn, or letting us scamper around his monumental train set in the basement. I'll always remember him as an incredibly kind, gentile and gracious man. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
