George Shirley passed away on December 27, 2019 at the age of 80 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The obituary was featured in American Press on January 3, 2020.
I only knew George though an online preserving newsgroup. He was always willing to share his knowledge and everyone could trust his advice. I always liked stopping by and hearing what gardening and preserving he was up to. Sending good thoughts to all of you. I'm very sorry for your loss.

George was a 'best friend' of mine from the 80's to his death. You could not ask for a better, honest, considerate and loyal friend. I will miss him.
