He sat in front of me at St. Francis in nearly all classes. Many great laughs!

George lived life like a Greek (think Zorba). He knew books and music and was funny and a great cook. The best salade nicoise I have ever eaten was at George's house, something George "just threw together." He was a regular at the Armadillo House on Western Avenue when Bill Hart and Skip Cubbedge lived there and he would try to keep things semi-coherent. He did an impersonation of Ed Sullivan introducing Jimmy Hendrix to perform "Purple Haze" that was absolutely hilarious. When I...

George at Scott High Scholl in the 1950s....

I worked with George for several years. He was an amazing teacher within the kitchen and in life. I think of him every time I cook pasta...my water will always taste like the sea. I will cherish the many memories I have of him. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

A very sad day for all of us, that knew and associated with George. I spent much time with George when I lived in Toledo as he was a frequent visitor to my old bachelor pads. He turned me on to the writings of Henry Miller, his and my favorite author. When I moved to Las Vegas, George came to visit and stayed at my place for extended visits. He enjoyed gaming and he & I would participate frequently. I considered George one of my best friends and I will miss our occasional conversations...
