George Stanfill

My sincere condolences to Peter, Gayle and their families as well as his brother Dennis, grandchildren and other relatives and friends. George was a special friend of mine. He introduced me to my future wife, Claudia. We taught together at St.Bernard High where our friendship grew greatly. We both had families about the same ages and enjoyed golf and fishing. What a beautifully articulated testimony to a man who, like so many in St. Bernard Parish, was salt of the earth. I lived on Frances Ave. in the 90's during my second "tour of duty" at Lourdes. I have a foggy memory of George having a health scare that required an ambulance. After Katrina we all went our separate ways. I'm in central Kentucky reading that George outlived Olga. My prayers are with y'all during this second leave-taking. Their spirits live on.
