We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and words of support during this time. We want to share with you a poem written about George and his store on Clark Street:

TO GEORGE-PURVEYOR OF UNLIMITED FANTASIES AND DREAMS

A casual stroll
An unremarkable street
A nondescript storefront
Windows full of jumbled anything, everything
All jostling for position
Inviting investigation, an adventure amongst disorder.
Stepping inside, a world...

Dear Stotis Family,
My best friend Karen and I knew George since we were teenagers. We loved to go through his special theater cloths and have George tell us about life, love and happiness. We loved him so much, my husband and I made our first film of him, called George's Mosaic, over 30 years ago when we went to film school. I wish now, I would have filmed more. We will miss this great kind loving human being.
Our prayers are with you all.
Dorene and Karen

George was the Greek philosopher and poet, and we will greatly miss his interesting discourses on life when in Chicago. My husband David and I knew him as a warm-hearted, unique person. Our sympathies go to his family and other friends.

Kiki, Billy, Anna, Ron and all of the Stotis family,
There was no one like your dad. He had the unique ability to immediately see people as they really are. I could spend hours talking to him. I will miss seeing him drinking a metaxa at my parents' house while discussing his latest travels, and I will miss him every Christmas day. He has meant so much to the entire Costas family, as well as the Agouridis, Desiniotes and Paraskevopoulos families. He was truly an ideal representative of...

TO BILL AND THE ENTIRE STOTIS FAMILY, I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT I NEVER HAD THE HONOR OF MEETING GEORGE.IT IS SAID THAT THE FRUIT DOES'NT FALL FAR FROM THE TREE. AS BILL,MY FRIEND AND COUNSELOR,HAS TRULY ENRICHED MY LIFE, IT'S CLEAR THAT GEORGE TOUCHED MANY IN HIS COMMUNITY.MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE STOTIS FAMILY.MAY YOU CELEBRATE HIS LIFE.

To the Stotis family and all his dear friends,
I was so sorry to hear that we have lost George. He held a special place in my heart, not only because of his joy in life and his warmth, but because of his kindness to me. George's store was a great Chicago landmark.

To Bill and the Stotis Family...Our deepest sympathy, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Billy, thank you so much for notifying me..I knew dad was ailing and I tried unsuccessfully to see him over the holidays..I sent him a note... George was the Greek philospher king,he was the Zorba of Chicago, fully alive with life with its ups and downs, it was my pleasure to become his friend thru our real estate dealings..and to meet Bill and Angie through him.
I will miss his zest for living...
I will miss his friendship...
My sincere condolences to his fine family that he was so...
