George Weldon Strother

I got to know George in two ways: via tennis at Chautauqua and then because we both used to sit in lawn chairs on the Presbyterian House lawn outside the AMP to listen to CHQ lectures and concerts-and we'd chat before the events. George was lovely in every way: thoughtful and soft spoken (with a clear and strong world view that was filled with integrity and humanity) and humorous--and he even laughed politely at my bad jokes. I was privileged to know George by being married to Marianne's cousin John Skinkus. Laughter and love was shared in the Recla house in Minersville and later at George and Marianne's in Easton , MD. The picture here shares George's wonderful smile. He was a sweet man and we all miss him.

George will be missed by many. He was a talented man whose passion about making a positive difference in this world was only second to the family he loved. Stuart, Pam and Kimberly, your father was very proud of you, and he lives on in all of you and his grandchildren. May God bless you all and keep you strong during these trying times.
