George Thiessen

George Thiessen was called home to his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 29, 2017. George was born in Kimball, Alberta on June 28, 1928. He moved to Gem, Alberta in his childhood where he met his wife, Elizabeth. The two were married on August 20, 1950. George enjoyed many successful years teaching in northern BC, Morley, Alberta, Calgary and Surrey. They had two daughters, Edith and Kathy, and three sons Rick, Ed and Dennis. He was a successful entrepreneur. Early endeavours included purchasing and renting recreational vehicles. George skillfully managed a motel in White Rock while continuing his teaching career. Later, George owned and operated a travel agency in central Surrey. For two consecutive summers George built and later sold homes. In retirement, he enjoyed travel and volunteered to work at Haggai Institute in Maui. George was an avid photographer and a skillful musician. His three sons, his nine grandchildren and their spouses and nineteen great grandchildren will miss him greatly. A memorial service will be held at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 am.
