GEORGE W. TWOHY Age 80, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Lovelace Heart Hospital. He lived in Albuquerque for the past 22 years where he was enjoying his retirement as a pilot for the US Forest service for 25 years. He was a proud member of the AOPA and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Donna; brother, Dennis; sister, Barbara; six sons, Edward, Donald, John, Paul, Brian, and Raymond; two daughters, Renee and Janet; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012, 9:00 a.m., at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. Private burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

At age 15, I joined a flying club at Torrance Airport that George owned as I wanted to learn to fly. George was my flight instructor and got me soloed and a Private license in Piper Cherokee N6134W. Progressed to Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, Multi-engine, Instrument and Instrument Flight Instructor and Airline Transport Pilot Rating. Spent 5 years instructing other pilots and then a 33 year career with American Airlines retiring as a Captain on the B-757 and B-767. Now 73 years...
