We thank the spirits for sharing George with us for a short while. He was a great representative of the humans because he was a part of all things.

In the early 1950´s George babysat me in our little town of Gold Beach. He was a good friend of our family.

So hard to find the right words to express my thoughts. George was such an important part of our tribe's history, a wealth of knowledge that is now gone, except for his numerous papers and writings. His leadership in gathering information from the Smithsonian and sharing this with other Oregon Tribes was increadible and inspiring. I will miss his much needed wisdom and presence at tribal gatherings. He has left a vacuum but gave so much during his time on this earth. Condolences to his family.

I was so very saddened to hear of George's death. My husband, Denny DeGross had just passed away in Feb. and George was grieving that loss. They had been very close friends since high school. Denny thought the sun rose and set with George. I know he was a very gifted, brilliant and kind man. My heart goes out to all his family and friends. May George and Denny rest in peace together! Truly a tragic loss, but how wonderful the world is to have been blessed by George's presence.
