God called home His servant, Deacon George L. Williams, on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the VCU/MCV Medical Center in Richmond, Va.
He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Deacon Lawrence L. Parham; sister, Ella M. Parham; and a brother, Cornelius Williams.
George accepted Christ at an early age, joining the Morning Star Baptist Church, Jarrett, Va. There he was ordained as a deacon under the leadership of the Rev. Otis Pigford.
George was an inspiration to the employers of Georgia Pacific for 38 years in Emporia, Va., ministering the word of God and as a core layer.
Left to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Dora G. Williams; son, George Milton Williams; one brother, Moses L. Barnes (Catherine) of Richmond, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Odell Williams of North Carolina, Barbara Briggs (Ardie) of Stony Creek, Va., and Faye G. Johnson of Petersburg, Va.; four brothers-in-law, Francis L. Givens of Stony Creek, Va., Herman Givens of Maryland, Ray D. Givens of Petersburg, Va., and Melvin M. Givens of Richmond, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews, with 18 of them considered as brothers and sisters; a host of cousins, with two devoted, Herbert Lewis of Jarrett, Va. and James C. Parham of Petersburg, Va.; and friends, to include devoted friends of Georgia Pacific, especially Brother Bernard Pair, Deacon Joe Antorn, George Bailey, Willie Powell, Sister Jackie Scott, Sister Hazel Perkins, and many more, too numerous to name.
A homegoing celebration will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Morning Star Baptist Church, 241 Grigg Avenue, Jarratt, Va., the Rev. Lynn Bradley, eulogist. The interment to follow in the Given Family Cemetery, Jarratt, Va.
The family will receive friends at 18197 Givens Lane, Stony Creek, Va.

HI, Uncle George :)...it was a shock to hear that I (we) have lost you....but you will always remain in our hearts. I will never forget that BIG beautiful smile you use to lay upon me when you looked at me and gave me a hug. Yes , literally you were my "great" uncle....but whole heartedly, you were "My Uncle George"! Your genuiness, and kindness have touched so many ! I will miss you ...now may you rest in peace with your sister, but my Grandma and my PaPa. Lots of Love,

I have taken care of George in the Dialysis Unit for many years. We have spent a lot of time talking about the Lord.He would sing hymns from church.I will miss his every day.I am so sorry, but I am conforted that George is with God. I send my condolences and prayers to the family.Love Mrs Gay
