Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace, George, and my sincerest condolences to Priscilla. You were my favorite buyers in 2006 at my beloved 1725 Washington Street; your professorships and life in retirement were an inspiration to me back then...and now. Kind regards, Rick Hills

George was an incredible force and visionary who brought Asian American Studies to the Midwest. He was always so warm and welcoming, mentoring faculty in the then Asian American Studies Program. His support for us and leadership at the campus level laid the foundation for AAS to be among the best in the nation. George and Priscilla were there for us as scholars and individuals, and I am so grateful to have known him.

I had the pleasure of serving with Professor George Yu on the Committee to establish the Asian American Studies Program at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was a remarkable administrator, and a splendid leader. On a personal level, he was kind and warm. He was my dear friend, and I will miss hm. May his Soul Rest in Peace, Bal Balgopal

I was one of the half dozen faculty he hired, along with colleagues in the History Department, to establish the Program. He assembled a terrific team of top-notch faculty from the nation. It was a real pleasure to have been in conversation with him. George performed his duties with aplomb. He always invited the campus...
