Not sure what to say?

I remember seeing Georgene many years at the YMCA where I have taught group exercise since 1994. Her voice was always distinct and very strong when I would see and greet her getting towels to take down to the pool. Dan my prayers are with you and your family. Just reading her obituary lets me know that she was a remarkable, mother, woman and person. Be blessed and may God comfort and give you peace. "Russell Lee " Downtown YMCA Birmingham,Alabama

Always loved getting to see Georgene (GG) at the family get togethers. Hope I so admired her spirit and straightforwardness. She had so many interesting life things to share.
Peace and love to you all,

Mrs. Gainey was my seventh grade English teacher at The Altamont School, and these many years later, I vividly remember the incredible energy and enthusiasm she brought to class every day. She was a demanding teacher and a tough grader, and expected her students to reciprocate her commitment to our class, which was substantial. We had the pleasure of appearing with Georgene onstage with the Seasoned Performers and cherish those times. She was a mentor to us as we headed into our golden age and we loved her dearly. What a blessing to have known her as a friend and colleague.

We were blessed to know Georgene. We usually sat next to her in our Sunday School class at South Highland Presbyterian Church. She will be missed.

Susan, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You are such a good friend and I want you to know that you are in my heart and prayers. When I met your mother, I could tell that she was a very special and talented person.

One of my favorite things Mrs. Gainey did at Brooke Hill and Altamont was the poetry contest. She was kind yet paradoxically brutal on the critical preparation for that annual event!

Dan and Denise, so sorry to hear about your mother. That's always a really tough thing to deal with. I'm sure it was a great 92 years. Enjoy your memories. We're thinking of you both.

Dan, Denise and family,
Susie and I didn't know Mrs. Gainey, but what a great obituary and picture in the paper today.
We're certain she'll be with you always!
