One evening after dinner, my daughter Eve, climbed into Jerry's lap and asked if he would be her grandfather. He chuckled and said yes. That's when I took this photo. She is now 34 years old and misses him too.

I can't believe it has been 5 years since Jerry's passing. I still miss him every day. Much love to his wonderful family.

Dr. Abrams was one of my favorite teachers of all time. It was such a joy to just listen to him lecture. Even after I left his class, I continued to email him random Pathology questions years later. His responses were always so enthusiastic and yet, I was only 1 of ~10,000 students he'd taught. -Adeel Khan MD, UMMS Class of 2014

My hope for everyone is to have someone, at some point in their life, have an educator as amazing as Dr. Abrams. He made complex subject matter approachable and memorable for us early in our medical careers. His sense of humor was off the charts and even now, almost 25 years later, I still hear his voice when reviewing pathology.
To his family, my deepest thanks for sharing this great man with us. Please know that a piece of him lives on in a generation of medical students (and now...

Some 55 years ago, Jerry Abrams brought our family a wonderful gift -- a brown and white guinea pig that we named Rex. Among all the gifts through all the years, that was a gift my siblings and I will never forget.

He made the medical school a welcoming place for us as M1s. Too many to know all of us by name, in subsequent years we'd wave to him in the halls of the hospital, our fingers gesturing or class rank as he'd requested. He was an institution at the University who's loss leaves a void, but he won't soon be forgotten. Thank you Dr. Abrams!

Jerry Abrams was simply a magical man. As so many have commented so eloquently, he possessed an uncommon ability to touch lives of others in the most profound ways. I always walked away from an interaction with Jerry feeling valued, respected, and loved. How incredibly lucky we all are for having had him here on earth.
