BLASSINGAME, Mr. Gerald Leroy, Sr.-age 77, of Flint, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Briarwood. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 27, 2015 with a 10:00 am family hour at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church 2115 W. Coldwater Rd. Flint, MI 48505. Rev. Michael Petttigrew officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Blassingame will be River Rest Cemetery, Flint, MI. Calling hours are 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2015 with family present from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Gerald Blassingame, Sr. was born August 9, 1937 in Flint, MI the son of Nokomis and Shirley (Williams) Blassingame. He was a life-long resident of Flint and worked as a bus driver. His hobbies included being a beautician/barber, bowling, writing and composing music, performing, and watching movies. Mr. Blassingame was an former CB Radio enthusiast who also played with Mark V and Smooth Operation groups. He was honored by Notables Today for his talent in June 2015.

Mr. Gerald L. Blassingame, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: ex-wife, Tina Blassingame; children, Cheryl Renay (Ocie) Harris, Donna Killebrew, baby girl and best friend Nicole (Aaron) Lowery, Gerald Blassingame, Jr., and Ryan Weir; Mr. Blassingame had five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other family and friends.

Even thou I could not be with you all I had to take a minute to say I was so sorry to here about your Dad. My prayers began for you when I received the call, that the Lord would make your days and nights a little lighter during this transition.
I will always remember that smile he had at any given time.
