Dec 18, 1945 – Nov 12, 2022
We are saddened to announce on November 12, 2022, after a year long, hard fought battle with cancer, Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Bordelon, 76, passed peacefully at his home in Pearl River, Louisiana surrounded by his loving family. As a proud New Orleanian, Jerry was a die-hard Saints fan from their very inception. Throughout his life he had a love for animals of all varieties, especially dogs. He shared a love for gardening he received from his mother.
Jerry was born on December 18, 1945 in New Orleans, LA to Marvin Bordelon and Shirley Babin Bordelon. He grew up in a large family of 8 siblings Diane “Dee”, Marvin, Sharon & Susan “The Twins”, Debbie “Wink”, Pearl “Nani”, Keith, and Penny. Even being from a large family Jerry never had to be brash or flashy but carried himself with an undeniable quiet strength that everyone admired. He celebrated 57 years of love and marriage with his wife and soulmate Linda Bordelon. He loved his wife’s family as much as he did his own including Pearl, Don, Bernard (Sr.), Jackie, Shirley “Shirley Girl”, Bernard “Benny”, Carol, Mike, and Chris. His son Gerald Joseph Bordelon, Jr. “Jay”, as Jerry would often say was, “just like your mama” which is why he loved Jay so much. Although Jerry didn’t always see himself in his son, most of us that know Jay, know that Jerry instilled his passionate love of family in his son. Jerry was blessed to see his son marry his soulmate Nichole Mayeux Bordelon. He enjoyed the extended family Jay gave him, Josh Lambert, Logan Cantore, and Gideon Cantore. Most of all, Jerry loved his grandson Nicholas James Bordelon with his whole heart and will forever be proud of him.
The strength of Jerry and Linda’s love was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of being in its presence. They were true partners making every decision together, watching football together, & enjoying dinner out together. They completely relied on each other. This was exemplified by the monumental effort that Jerry displayed in his holding on to Linda in passing. Until the very end, love of family defined Jerry’s life.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West Slidell LA 70460.
Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
