Gerald E. "Gerry" Burns, Vet. Maj. Retired US Army WWII and Korean Wars, 23 years Army Career, beloved husband of Katherine, nee Kutaj; loving father of Pat (Ted) Rowe, Kathleen (Steve) Debo, Rita Burns, Mary (Scott) King, Michael (Christine) Pettit, Gerald, Edward, Michael (Jayne), Jeff (Dawn) and John (Atrice) Burns; proud grandfather of 15; and great-grandfather of two; dear brother of Eileen (Phil) Wengel and the late Bernice (late Bill) Englert and Eugene (Lucille) Burns; dear friend of Rev. Daniel Sullivan. Mr. Burns was a retired Program Administrator for the Chicago Board of Education, taught Auto Mechanics at Washburn Trade School, was a Military Instructor at Bishop Quarter Military Academy and a. C.C.D. Instructor at Holy Ghost Church. Visitation Friday, 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 9:15 a.m. from Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Grove Ave. (four blocks north of 162nd St., Rte 6), Dolton/South Holland to Holy Ghost Church. Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
