Not sure what to say?

May God's blessings continue to be with the Cavanaugh Family. Tpr Cavanaugh was one of my defensive tactic instructors. He was a man of integrity, service, and pride. He lived our motto as a husband, father, and officer of the Illinois State Police. I thank the family for sharing him with so many. Ret. Sgt James Mason 2597.

Gerry: You will be truly missed. I am in part of what I am today because of you.

Yvonne, although I only met you once, I can never forget Gerry. I was a new Corporal just transferred to the Academy from Northwestern University Traffic Institute in June 75 when I first met Gerry. We hit it off right away. He was running the then recruit class. Gerry reitire later and so did I in January 93. I used to hear about him from one of the guys at the Army National Guard where I worked on Active Duty after my retirement from the ISP. Anyway, I have fond memory of Gerry and so...

My condolences to Gerry's family. He was my defensive tactics instructor when I was a cadet at the Illinois State Police Academy. Although we feared him at the time, once I graduated I realized he was just looking out for our safety "on the road". Rest in peace and thank you.

I was so sorry to hear about Gerry. He was always such a positive presence. He has had a tough few years! And you, too. Thinking of you in these sad times......Cynthia Boyhan

Gerry was one of the range officers for my cadet class when I went thru in the summer of 86. I remember him as a quiet man who taught firearms and did his best with each student.

Yvonne and family, he was a great man. I am sorry for your loss.

Yvonne and family,
I was very sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. Please know that all my prayers are with you and your family. Give my best to all of them.
