Not sure what to say?

Gerry was interim minister of music for two years at Salem Lutheran in Affton, MO while he was in seminary. He was a mentor, allowed me to be his assistant organist and accompanist. His gentle humor and care for me as an anxious 17-year old was brotherly, and he affectionately called me "Jeffreylein." When I went into my first year at Concordia River Forest, he gave me a "Harvard Dictionary of Music" as a graduation gift, and inscribed that I was his "Aaron holding up the prophet´s hands."...

Our son was a student @ Concordia, St. Paul & was plagued by anxiety. It was Pastor Coleman who notice him in the tunnel lounge & stopped to comfort him.Ryan transferred to Concordia, Bronxville & often would get to spend time w/ Gerry. April will be 5 years since Ryan went to be w/ our Savior. My heartfelt sympathy tho his family who shared & supported Gerry...What a gift he was to congregations, the Lutheran school system, and to many who still sing his beautifully inspired music!

Sitting across a Camp Pioneer dining table 40+ years ago, I concluded the talented and engaging GPC might someday lead a major church body. Such a capable person. Now asleep in Jesus, may he rest in peace to rise in glory.

Gerald was a longtime member of my church in D.C., Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. My sincere condolences to his family and to all who loved him.

Gerald was a good friend from childhood who will sorely be missed.

Gerry Coleman greatly enriched my life from Camp Pioneer's '77 week long Confirmands' Retreat to my Concordia, Bronxville Tour Choir college experience...LOVE is the only word that comes to mind. Thank you, my friend, for teaching me LOVE!

A man of music, God, & love. Gerry & I spoke many times after my husband passed away in 2020 and most recently on another matter. He was a wonderful support. Another saint in the heavenly choir. He will be missed.
