Not sure what to say?

My condolences to Jerrys family and I know this is 8 years past. I met Jerry years ago (1998) when we both participated in an Urban League Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) event at Howard University. I dont remember much about him, but he must have left an impression on me as I reached out to him afterwards and then saved his reply letter. I was going through old memorabilia and found his letter and it brought a smile to my face. It seems to be consistent with what others have said...

Jan and Family,

Thanks for contacting me. I am so happy I had a chance to visit Jerry a couple of months ago. Mr. Hinch was one of the best bosses i have ever had. He was always willling to share his knowledge to make others lives better. He certainly did that for me. He was a true professional. I remember being so proud of him being one of the first African American men in a high level position at the VA. He taught so many young adults about having and maintaining a...

Dear Jan and the Hinch Family. We are the family of Lawrence A. Landry, a long time friend of Jerry's from the days in Chicago, IL. Lawrence passed away almost 15 years ago, but we remember the family friendship that he, Jerry and your family shared for many years. We send you our sincere condolences and hope that the cherished memories help during this time of mourning. The Lawrence A. Landry Family - Dolores, Jennifer {now with three daughters of her own}, and Michael

Although Gerry & I haven't crossed paths for 30 years, I remember his decency in dealing with people at all levels, his great pride in the Federal Service, and his thoughtfulness with his friends.

Dear Jan and Family,
I owe much to my professional development and growth to Mr. Hinch having served as one of his senior managers at VA for many years and prior to that at OPM. He gave me great opportunities that I can now pass on to those I now seve and mentor. Always remember that his impact was far reaching.

Dear Jan and Family:

I had the good fortune to know nd work with Jerry as a fellow Regional Director of CSC and OPM. Jerry added a lot of wisdom and good judgement and helped all of those close to him when needed.
I treasured Jerry's friendship.

Heartfelt condolence to you and your family.
So sorry for your loss.
