Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Gerald “Jerry” Louis Schenck departed this life peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 88.

He was preceded in death in 2014 by his childhood sweetheart and most beloved wife, Marianne, after 59 years of marriage.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, their lifelong commitment took them to many states before building their final home in Missouri to be the heart of countless holidays, birthdays, and celebrations filled with laughter, prayer, and love with family and friends. Jerry’s presence was a source of comfort and joy and will be deeply missed.

A man of unwavering faith, Jerry lived his life guided by compassion, humility, and generosity.  Jerry is survived by four children - Mike (Carolyn), Matt (Barb), Maura (the late Tom), and Mia - to carry forward the values he instilled, along with his cherished ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who all loved their Gpa:  Sarah, Alicia, Michael, Knic, Katie, Joey, Lauren, Marissa, Josh, Jessie, Ava, Kinley, Greyson, Michael III, Farrah, and Clara.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Air Force and graduated from Xavier University with a bachelor degree.  A natural leader and entertainer, Jerry professionally held leadership roles, retiring as VP from HRMC, as well as serving as president on committees for Elks Lodge, neighborhoods, and St Louis Barbershop Quartet.  Jerry’s captivating singing voice was a delight to hear performing in a quartet, in the choir at Most Sacred Heart Church, at home with his guitar, or a simple call singing happy birthday to you on your special day.  During retirement, Jerry was a favorite substitute teacher to many students in the Rockwood School District.  Jerry also loved nature and could be seen regularly over the years walking the trails of Queeny Park with a smile.

Jerry’s spiritual strength was a cornerstone for his family, and his quiet wisdom and charm touched all who knew him.

Services:  Visitation will be held at Most Sacred Heart Church, 350 E. 4th Street, Eureka, MO 63025 on Friday, September 19th, from 9:30am until time of Mass at 10:30am.  Interment with follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions can be made to Most Sacred Heart Church in honor of Jerry’s lifelong devotion to faith and service. Friends may sign the family’s on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Not sure what to say?

With heartfelt condolences to Uncle Jerry’s Family and Friends. My mother’s brother, Uncle Jerry had a playful and welcoming demeanor. The times I saw him were infrequent, but he had a light about him that was as warm and friendly as his smile and sense of humor. When my oldest brother was born, mom’s first child, she named him Jerry after the brother she thought the world of. But my father had other ideas and changed his name to Danny. Mom liked to tell that story and always brightened up...

I am a friend of Maura’s and always remember Mr. Schenck’s smile and sense of humor. You could instantly see the love he had for his family and all who were invited into their loving home. He was genuinely gracious, caring and will be greatly missed.

Jerry was one of our best long time friends. He was a kind man with an open heart. We will miss him but we will always have fond memories. We know he is in a better place and once again with his one true love Maryanne. May you rest in peace my fellow Barbershop friend. Thank you for the memories. Mark and Karen Tuttle

Jerry was one of a kind, a wonderful man, an exceptional father-in-law and grandfather to my children and grandchildren. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. I will miss his humor, his beautiful singing voice, and talking with him. I know he is at peace in heaven with his beautiful wife and God. Love you Jerry!
