Gerald W. Jones, age 78 of the Yuma community, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 22, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center.  He was born on August 23, 1945, the son of the late Ulyess Jones and Lakie Peters Jones.


Gerald was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War and retired from AGC Glass Plant as a production worker.  Gerald was of the Baptist faith, former volunteer at Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Medical Center, and member of the Weber City Volunteer Fire Dept.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Joan Barnette Jones.


Surviving are brother, Warren Jones (Susan); sister-in-law, Kathy Coleman; nephews, John Coleman and Daniel Coleman (Kayla); niece, Rachel Coleman; one great niece, Ella Mae Coleman; two great nephews, Brantley and Silas Coleman; life long friends, David Presley and Jerry Coleman.


Military Graveside service will be Friday, January 26, 2024, at 3:00 PM at West End Cemetery, 756 Sugar Pine Lane, Gate City, VA with honors by American Legion Post 3/265 and Virginia National Guard Honors Team. Rev. Stephen Miller will be officiating the service with music by John Coleman.  For those wishing to attend, you may either meet at Colonial Funeral Home at 2:00 PM to go in procession or meet at the cemetery.


Serving as pallbearers will be Warren Jones, Daniel Coleman, David Presley, Mike Odom, Randy Duncan and Dean Roberts.
