Luyben Dilday - Long Beach - Long Beach Obituary

Gerald L. Leiran
August 19, 1926 - September 19, 2011
Gerald L. Leiran died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and grew up in Alamakee County, Iowa where he lived with his mother, Freda Grant. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dee Leiran (Dolores Hess); three daughters, Nancy Osborne of San Leandro; Pam McNulty of Long Beach; and Rebecca Lambert of Stanton. He also leaves three grandchildren, Brent Valencia of Garden Grove, Stephanie Fischer of Columbia, SC; and Anne Zapata of Irvine; great grandchildren include, Lucy and Phoebe Fischer; Ainsley and Aiden Zapata. Siblings include, Vernon Haas, Ron Haas, David Grant, Florence Turner; Lorna Rychecky, Patricia Valentine, Marilyn Elleffson and Robert McCoy. We will remember him as a gentle loving husband and father who enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and photography. He served in the US Army and also the Air Force. He was always a "good neighbor" with a helping hand and ready smile for everyone. A man who did not speak evil of anybody and tried to rear his children to be good Christians, hard working, and honest and to always know he would be there for them no matter what life brought their way. Unconditional love, I believe, we call it. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Parkinson Research Foundation.
