It was a privilege being Mr. Levin´s student. Forty plus years later I still remember a lot of his stories. His love of Shakespeare was infectious. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.

In the mid 1970s, Victoria Mukerji and I decided Napa High needed Shakespeare as an English elective. Mr. Levin agreed to teach it and we secured then VP Jim Gibbony 's approval. Mr. Levin loved Victoria, me not so much. I appreciated his passion for the Bard. Teaching Othello to adolescents when the tenor of the times prohibited him from fully deconstructing Iago's motivations was no easy task. I was fortunate to have been Mr. Levin's student.

Mr. L was my English teacher, 1959-60, Ridgeview, and I never have forgotten his very obvious hope we all would succeed in life. More than anything, though, I remember a group of us caroling one night in front of his Franklin St. apartment, pre-Christmas 1959 or 60, and the look on his face as he came downstairs and stood in front of us. He was beaming, and tears still come to my eyes knowing he knew we loved him. RIP, dear man. Marie M
