Not sure what to say?

Gerry was one of those friends who, through conversations, always inspired and stimulated me to use my creativity, especially for writing. Always missed.

In his English class at Long Beach university he replied to a student who asked how we can know whether a work is good literature, (paraphrase: "Whatever holds your attention is worth reading")

Gerry is still missed in 2024.--Victor L. Corpora

I remember in his class at L. B. State telling his students that good literature was whatever writing absorbed you. He was a hoot who clearly loved life. He made this depressed young student feel hope.

Still miss talking with Gerry, especially about music and film. And, always enjoyed his classes at CSULB.

Some very creative friends have passed during the past year and Gerry was definitely one of them. I greatly enjoyed my conversations with him and he is still greatly missed.

I first met Gerry when I was an English major at CSULB from 1971-75 and was in several of his classes.

Being an avid movie fan, one of his favorite films was CASABLANCA which he would mention from time to time. He was also an avid jazz fan as was I.

We became friends when I surprised him with a copy of the screenplay which I obtained as a trade from an instructor who taught Screenwriting.

Gerry would offer encouragement whenever I told...

He was my mentor, advisor and good friend at CSULB. So many memories . . . including "Steve, let's drink some brews' . . . at the infamous '49er Tavern' near the campus and couple of lunch dates @ Hof's Hut in the marina. Bless you my friend.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jody's death. We were first cousins, but didn't get to see each other much. I bought all his books and he sent me a poem he wrote about my mother, his aunt Bea. It was wonderful. I wish we had lived closer to each other and could have seen each other more. My sympathies to his wife and children. His work lives on.
