Gerald M. Bloomfield II''s former band teacher, Terri Palazzolo, remembers when Bloomfield and some of his friends toilet-papered her car. Another time, during band "initiation," he was pushed upside down and shoved in a garbage can. "When something funny happened, there was no question of who was behind it," Palazzolo said. "He never let an opportunity for a dare pass him by." Bloomfield, 38, of Ypsilanti, Mich., was killed Nov. 2 when his helicopter crashed near Ramadi. He was assigned to Camp Pendleton. Former classmate Kraig Sacker said he was amazed at how much Bloomfield had turned his life around when the two talked during their 20th class reunion in 2004. "I sat down with him for a good 20 minutes to half-hour at the reunion," Sacker said, "and what he has accomplished and done with his life is amazing." He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in math and science, and was on his third tour in Iraq. "He couldn''t quite picture himself in a lab somewhere," said his stepmother, Judy. He is survived by his wife, Julie, a 13-year-old son, Ryan, and two stepchildren.

Not sure what to say?

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Gerald M. Bloomfield II US Marine Major.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made...

Gerald Bloomfield was the kind of leader I still strive to be. Nov 1st 2005 He approached me at breakfast and said that he was too harsh in the way he corrected me for an issue there was on the flight line. I began to say that I deserved to be disciplined when looking me square in the eyes, then Major Bloomfield said You didn't deserve it, and I wanted you to know you are all doing a great job out there. That was the last time we spoke and I have been privileged to serve with such a terrific...

Remembering those that gave it all on Memorial Day, you cant help but remember "Woody". I didnt know you personally but think about that day often. I was part of a team that reaponded to the crash. The days after, i started to hear all about you and how much you were respected and well liked.

I wish there was more we could have done for you and Micheal that day.

Semper Fi Brother.

Not forgotten!

To the family and friends of Maj. Gerald M. Bloomfield:
Always remembering Gerald. "Some gave all."

Still remembered and respected.
