Not sure what to say?

DId I really get a "D" in your drama class?

I knew Gerry very well. We first met doing summer stock at Cannon Beach in 1975. We developed a long-lasting friendship. He often visited me in Los Angeles after I moved there. He was a wonderful, bright, learned, and witty man. I miss him very much.

Mr. Merryman may have been small in stature but he was a giant in class! He taught poetry so well, I to this day can still recite some of Chaucer! He was loved by all his students, firm as he was he made learning exciting! I loved going to his class always!

Mr Merryman was my drama teacher at Ashland High School class of "78. He took time to speak to me one-on-one when he saw I was going through a tough time...I will always remember that he cared.

I have such wonderful memories of high school English with Mr. Merryman (he let me read the part of Ophelia when we read Hamlet, and I felt as if I'd been chosen queen for the day). His exacting standards and love for his students were legendary - he will be missed by so many! (Ashland High Class of 1982)

He was my high school Drama teacher at Ashland Senior High. He gave us many opportunities-- and he helped ignite a lifelong passion for theatre for me. I owe him quite a bit.

Thank you, Mr. Merryman for helping all of us enjoy you wonderful zest for teaching. Your English class (Junior year 1959-'60) enabled this student to enjoy Shakespeare, other classic literature and writing. College English classes were a breeze thanks to your wise ways of helping us see how much fun learning can be.

Jerry and I shared a very small office at William Temple House for more years than we could remember. He was a wonderful office mate and became a very good friend. I will miss him so much.

Mr Merryman had great bow-ties. I had him for Shakespeare. He made you want to excell. Loved his class. Class of 64
