Gerald Steele Morrison, 88, of Princeton, 83, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Private graveside services will be held at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting the family.
Jerry was born on June 1, 1933 to Robert and Mary (Steele) Morrison. He married Marilyn Yvonne Bernatavich on December 6, 1958 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Spring Valley. His wife Marilyn passed away just hours after he did.
He retired from the United States Postal Service. He received many awards for perfect attendance while employed. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 where he served as a cryptographic specialist and received the National Defense Service Medal. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Randy Gielow) Jeppson of Peru; 3 grandchildren, Gerald (Monique Lusietto) Johnston of Spring Valley; Julie (Kyle Witek) Johnston of LaSalle; Shaly (Ronald) Lahman III of Wenona; 8 great grandchildren, Keegan Marroquin; Jayce, Vincent and Leo Johnston; Veronika, Nova and Brayven Lahman; Ronald Lahman IV; his sister, Marilyn Ranieri of Oglesby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Morrison; a sister, Nadine Ghighi.
The family requests that any floral arrangements for Gerald and Marilyn be sent to the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley.
