Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Pyle, Gerald William “Jerry”, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the age of 73, his beloved wife by his side in their home.

Jerry is survived by his faithfully devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Nancy Pyle (nee Kirtogian); his loving children: Edward (Stephanie) Pyle, Tammi (James) Irwin, Gerald Jr. (Jennifer) Pyle and Christina (Daniel) Williams.

Jerry was adored by his grandchildren, to whom he was Papa: Taylor, Edward Jr., Andrew, Caden, Connor, Christopher, Michael, Samantha, Abigail, Amanda, Cameron, Jeffrey, Megan, and Brendan; step granddaughters Taylor and Maya; and great-grandchildren: Eli, Liam, Mila, Aydenn, Paydenn, Caleigha, Hunter and Maverick.

Jerry is lovingly remembered as a dear brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his father Charles “Chuckie” Pyle, cherished mother Marion Pyle, sister Sandra (Daniel) Shockley, and brother Timothy Pyle.

Born in St. Louis, MO, Jerry was a kind and compassionate man who never met a stranger throughout his days. He had a tremendous sense of humor, an infectious smile, and an enthusiasm for life that touched all those who were lucky enough to have known him. Jerry was drafted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War where he was awarded many prestigious honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960), Combat Infantryman’s badge, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Marksman (Rifle M-14 and M-16), and 1st Class Gunner (M-60 MG).

Jerry met the love of his life on a blind date on New Year’s Eve and married Nancy three months later on April 8, 1972. An amazing love story filled with admiration and dedication, Jerry was Nancy’s greatest supporter and treasured her talent for music. Jerry was a hard worker, generous, fair, and honest person. He was a faithful catholic and enjoyed his time in the church community and being with his beloved family and friends. He loved listening to the Oldies and his favorite concert was watching the Beach Boys perform in Clearwater overlooking the ocean. He also enjoyed going for long drives and walks with Nancy; he was a sports enthusiast and was passionate about his St. Louis Cardinals. Although he dealt with many health issues over the years, he never let that get him down; always smiling and always kind, steadfast in his efforts to be a diligent patient dedicated to his health. He had a will to live and fought hard to the very end.

Jerry was a selfless man, willing to do anything for anyone that needed help and he had a gift for making people feel comfortable and at ease around him. His smile could light up a room. He will be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
