Gerald Ratner

Mr. Ratner hired me as a secretary for the law firm Schradzke, Gould & Ratner in the early 1960s. He was so very kind to me, almost protective. After I left the firm to return to college, I worked during breaks for the firm. He paid for my Phi Beta Kappa key. He was a gracious, kind gentleman. My granddaughter just graduated from the University of Chicago. I wish I could have shared that with him. The beautiful Ratner athletic building is a fitting way to honor him. I served as GR's personal secretary from 1959 to 1961 when the firm was on Washington St. We exchanged holiday cards for over 20 years. He was a true gentleman and made my workday pleasant.
