SAMSON, Gerald E. - Of Burton, age 80, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Elder Vance Marshall officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #3087 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Visitation 5-8PM Friday at the funeral home. Gerald was born in Port Huron, Michigan on April 30, 1923. He married Cornedia Ball on January 27, 1960 in Port Huron, Michigan. He was a member of VFW Post #3087. Surviving are sons, Philip and wife Nora Samson of Holly, William Bowen, Michael "Sam" and wife Mary Bowen of Wichita, Texas; daughters, Sue Ann and husband James Long of Valdosta, Georgia, Elaine and husband Charles Boyce of Flint, Linda and husband Joe Olds of Burton; 20 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren; brothers, Leo and wife Edna of Port Huron, Duane and wife Mildred of Owosso, Don and wife Norma of Port Huron; sisters, Virginia Dean, Vera and husband Jack Curtis, all of Port Huron; very special friends, Lillian Nagy and also Ralph. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cornedia, on August 15, 1999; son, Jerry E. Samson; brother, Frankie and sister, Dolores.
