Dr. Slatin was a welcoming and patient faculty member and DGS during my time in the department, and I know he played a positive role in helping many students to feel at home and capable. I hope his family will take comfort knowing there are so many of us who admired and appreciated him. My condolences to all of those mourning his passing.

In the early 1970's Dr. Slatin was my adviser as I worked on my degree in Sociology. He was very good adviser and a very good man. He helped me a great deal and I appreciated it. My thoughts and prayers to his family.
