Polar Sea Moving on...

We were fortunate to make it up to Michigan to attend Jerry's funeral service and see and meet all of the people that were there. We were overwhelmed but not surprised to see all of the support from all of the lives that Jerry has always continued to touch! If everyone could just "pay it forward" the way Jerry did; the world would be a much better place. The service is over, the bar has been crossed but PLEASE don't forget that Margie still needs our support.

I met Jerry while...

My deepest condolence to Gerald Stones family. My dad William Burns and Gerald served together at the Radioman School in Petaluma. Brenda Burns Campbell Port Angeles WA

I met Jerry when we were on the Precom Crew of the CGC Polar Sea in 1976. From that time until his assignment in Washington DC we kept in touch with each other off and on. He was a great friend and a mentor. Margie,I know the loss your family must feel at this time as I have just lost my spouse of 50 years 4 months ago. The loneliness will continue for a while, but eventually it will get easier. I believe he is still here with you in spirit and you will be together again. May the Lord...

I worked with Jerry for several years at King County Sheriffs office, and was at Radioman A school in petaluma while he was there, great guy! Miss ya Buddy! Jim Burrage, Puyallup, wa.

Jerry made everything look easy, and fun. What a great, if slightly twisted, joy in life he had! I missed him when he left 911, I miss him more now. My best to his family, thanks for sharing him with us!

I first met Jerry when we commuted together from Petaluma to Government Island Alameda, CA circa 82-83. A fine gentleman with a keen sense of humor. When he and Margie were in Ecuador he would write of his experiences there. A most impressive writer. He was a talented fellow in many different fields. Our condolences to Margie. Jerry will be missed by all of his shipmates and friends..
We'll see you at the next port of call my friend.. Take a break Master Chief, we've got the watch.

I don't remember who first wrote this but I thought it would be appropriate.

"Master Chief stood the watch these past years so that We, our Families and our Fellow Countrymen could sleep soundly in safety, each and every night.
Master Chief.....the watch stands relieved.
Relieved by those you have trained, guided and led.
Master Chief, you stand relieved....we have the watch..."

Senior Chief was the coolest code teacher. I had Pro-Drill with him and McBee in Radioman "A" school in Petaluma. I never wanted to disappoint either of them God wrap your arms around your son, Jerry. You made the "Best Radioman" that I know! Thank you for your love, caring and leadership. Don't worry Senior Chief, we got your watch.

I remember Jerry from Argentia - NJN/NIK. It was good to see him again and meet Margie at the first Branson ZUT reunion. At the Grand Haven reunion, I was so grateful that he took over the photo duties when we had to leave early. Our prayers are with you at this time of sorrow.
