Gerald D. Suttles was my major professor in the 1990s when I was a doctoral candidate at The University of Chicago. He was a very kind man, patient and understanding, and willing to listen to my ideas and read my dissertation chapters. I did not know that he had passed away in May until I received a notice that a memorial service was going to be held to honor him and his many accomplishments.
