I have known the family most of my life, living near Mr. and Mrs. VanSumeren two times, first in the mid-70's for a few years and then later in life. The most recent being '92/'93. My fondest memory is as an adult him putting up his Christmas tree. Thom and I watched from across the street and were amazed with enjoyment. He had their tree in the stand on the sidewalk. He stepped back and walked around it, made adjustments, circled again, adjusting, until it was just right. So long ago...

I would like to say that Uncle Jerry was a great
Man, when his brother ( Jack ) ( John ) was down with knee problems or sick. Uncle Jerry always made time to stop and spend time with him. Which meant the world to him. Always wanted to return the favor and
Stop and see him when I could. Sometimes we get so caught up in our every day lives and forget what is important. Boy oh boy I wish I would have stopped more often to see his smiling face when I entered the room. It is a pleasure...
