I have known the family most of my life, living near Mr. and Mrs. VanSumeren two times, first in the mid-70's for a few years and then later in life. The most recent being '92/'93. My fondest memory is as an adult him putting up his Christmas tree. Thom and I watched from across the street and were amazed with enjoyment. He had their tree in the stand on the sidewalk. He stepped back and walked around it, made adjustments, circled again, adjusting, until it was just right. So long ago...
