Gerald Thomas Varney

     Gerald Thomas Varney, 65, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born November 28, 1951 at Williamson, WV, to the late Russell Varney and Margaret Allred Varney Wellman. He was also preceded in death by his step-father; Earl Wellman.
     Gerald was retired from Norfork Southern Railroad as a forklift operator and train loader. Gerald was an avid UK Wildcat and Pittsburgh Steelers fan who loved to fish and play basketball, but most of all he loved his grandbabies.
     He is survived by his wife, Joann Lewis Varney of Forest Hills, KY; his sons, Jamie Dale (Bobbi) Varney of Huddy, KY, and Thomas Jason Varney of Belfry, KY; brothers, Rodney Varney of Forest Hills, KY, and Roger Varney of Forest Hills, KY; his grandchildren, Madison Shade Varney and Makayla Jaylyn Varney and a host of other loving family and friends.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 12 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Ed Lockard Officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 - 9 PM Tuesday night at the funeral home. R. E.
