Not sure what to say?

A wonderful man and wonderful family friend !

It was the great love and humor of Father Walling that my forty plus surgeries were so easy to get through. Gerry Walling always remembered a card and mass on my birthday.
There was no sadness only humor and joy from Gerry.

It was my privilege to work with Gerry at Acacia Theatre, but more privileged to have kept up a correspondence and friendship since his days at Marquette and living in Milwaukee. His humorous and grace-filled letters will be missed. A gracious, sweet man.

Father Walling was the head of the theater group at St. Ignatius, and he directed myself and my brther in a number of productions. I also saw him act on stage a few times, and even saw him in the Blues Brothers (in the first 5 minutes, he is one of the guards taking John Beushi to see the prison warden). He was a great teacher, and a wonderful man

The Chicago-Detroit Province of the Society of Jesus offer prayers of thanksgiving for Rev. Gerald C. Walling, SJ, for his vocation and 60 years of ministry as a Jesuit serving God's people. We are deeply grateful and pray for the many friends and benefactors who helped make Fr. Walling's service possible.

Father (Uncle) Gerald, you were the most thoughtful person I have ever known. You never missed sending birthday cards with special messages of saying mass for us. I will miss getting mail from you but know you are in a happy place. You will always be remembered for your generous spirit and your giving heart. You are and will be sincerely missed.

He will always be remembered by his friends for his wonderful sense of humor. I found it a priviledge and honor to work with him when he performed at Acacia Theatre in Milwaukee WI. He was an inspiration to us because of his humble and sweet spirit. Thanks for the memories, Gerry!

Uncle Gerald and Jack Frankenmuth 7/28/09

We think of Uncle Gerald for his good humor, remembering and reminding us of birthdays, assisting at marrages, checking on us from time to time and praying for us. Frankenmuth was more fun because he accompanied us, he kept up with our distant relatives and treated his own physical issues as minor events.

We all will miss him.

As your niece, I have so many wonderful memories of the love that you constantly and faithfully gave. Now that you are in Heaven, we have a friend and advocate just as when you were here with us.
