A Christmas message from Mom

I remember and you may also that Mom loved the movie Shawshank Redemption. Tonight as I watched the closing of the movie it occurred to me that here was a truth that represented one of Mom's lessons in life. As Red reads the letter he found it includes; "Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies." (As Mom would say - That's rich!)

God bless you all,
Love,
Chuck

Praise the Lord! We have all heard Mom speak this expletive with joy and conviction. I am leaning on that memory now. Mom would have been 96 this November 14th. She was born just a few months after female citizens of the US were first able to vote. And vote she did both at the ballot box and more importantly in the arena of God's love for all. I am thankful for the certainty of that memory.
Enclosed is my choice of how to be in these turbulent political times. I feel certain Mom...

Chuck always nails it :) I would like to add on to Grandma's great way of smiling .... let's turn to her laugh! I can hear it so easily. That and GinaDarling.

Psalm 126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them.

Grandma did, and still does, great things.

Megan took the picture so there were 4 generations!

The best advise my mom ever gave me was an example. She smiled! I honor Mother's Day today because I know each time I smile it engenders the spirit and love of Geraldine Buskey's smile. She nurtured, inspired and passed along to each of us her compassion and absolute convection that God in good and is always present.

It is true.... nudges from those we love & respect matter. And so do smiles.

I am sending one up now to Grandma. She was such a shining example of mindfulness AND thinking about others. So, in my prayers today, I asked for blessings to all who knew her. Enjoy God's smile. It is so easy. And love is so free (and freeing). I'll send you all more tonight :)

I remember playing with Chuck, Cliff Nix, Allen Brinn and my brother Ray at your house many times. You always treated us like neighbors and friends. So sorry I didn't catch the Obit when it first came out, would have loved to attend the family time.

It has been a while since I visited here. I love the thoughts Gina posted for Mom's birthday in 2013. Bless you Gina. You blessed ole' UC for sure.

I found my way here feeling a need to pass along a meaningful thought. I recently read Jabar Crow by Wendell Berry. It ends with a smile between two people who must pretend all their lives to be just friends but are indeed soulmates. As I reflect I recall how Mom's smile would connect her to all. She was able...

So I made dinner by 'extending' last night... like Grandma, but with eating-out leftovers- modern ick's she probably rarely used...

But there was a cast iron skillet and onions, and flavor for miles, so it was Jerry enough.

Tuesday night I taught a friend to play Amazing Grace on guitar; of course, I trembled with G'ma in my throat.

Bit of Joel O. over the weekend had me glancing above, smiling and crying.

And this morning, I am filled with...

REFLECTION on HOPE
This week my journey took me to a Shoppers food store here in Centreville. In front was an average looking young man with a card table and a few pieces of literature. He was there on behalf of www.mercymomshouse.com. He explained this organization reunites moms separated from their children. In some instances perhaps due to imprisonment. My impression was that he felt earnestly about this cause. He got my support. Then he asked me to promise to read the Book of James...
