Mrs. Geraldine (Gerry) Josephine (Barbeau) Matista, of Andale, Kansas, born on June 27, 1926, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away at age 92 on May 1, 2019, in Citrus Heights, California. Geraldine was the loving wife of Rudolph C. (Rudy) Matista for nearly 68 years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Barbeau and Vincent Barbeau; and sisters, Pauline Riche and Mary Kelly. Geraldine is survived by her sons, Anthony Matista, John Matista, Joseph Matista, Thomas Matista, David Matista, Charles Matista, and Steven Matista; daughters, Jane Cupples, Mariel Wrobel, and Teresa Stagnaro; and sisters, Maxine Richenberger, Genevieve Schoenecker, Dorothy Blake, and Rose Doffing. Geraldine also has over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the Holy Family Catholic School Librarian for 27 years. Geraldine enjoyed square dancing, bowling, reading, and genealogy research. She was the treasurer of Church Women's Council and was a tireless supporter of many church projects/programs. Above all, Geraldine loved God and her family. Friends and family are welcome to attend the funeral service, officiated by Father Michael Kiernan, on Friday, May 17 from 8:00, Rosary, 8:30 Mass. Burial and reception follow Mass. Holy Family Catholic Church, 7817 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights, California, 95610.
