Geraldine "Jean" McDowell Of Kistler, WV Geraldine "Jean" McDowell, 77, of Kistler, danced her way through Heaven's gate on May 9, 2013 following complications that occurred during heart surgery. She was born August 6, 1935, in Logan County, the daughter of the late Leander and Martha Watkins Samson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Grimmett; an infant son, Moss Grimmett; and a very special grandson, Michael Grimmett with whom she will be laid to rest. Jean was a home maker. She was a spunky independent woman that loved life and lived every day as if it were her last. She loved to sing, dance, play bingo, and voice her opinion. She will be sadly missed by her children, Walter "Junebug" (Pam) Grimmett of Weston, Theresa (James) Isaacs of Earling, Vivian (Johnny) Bowen of Accoville, Patricia Rost of Boston, MA, Diane Freeman of South Weymouth, MA, Gary Grimmett of Dellechasse, LA, Paul (Shirley) Grimmett of New Orleans, LA, and Sandy Kay Waterman, Michael (Mary) Grimmett, and Dollie (Tommy) Wood, all of RI. Twenty-six grandchildren are left to cherish her memory. A special nephew, Randall Samson, one very special great-granddaughter, Rileigh Bowen and numerous other great-grandchildren will miss her. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Brother Cecil Bartram officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Pall bearers will be family and friends. I think of Jean every time I dance in my living room. She sure was a spunky lady. My dad loved her dearly. Due to my own troubles, I regret not searching for her sooner.
