Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathies to the Liebertz family on Jerry's passing. I've worked at Portland Meadows and Multnomah Greyhound Park over the past thirty - plus years, and Jerry was one of the sweetest people I've had the pleasure to run across during my employment there. I always got a smile watching many of my customers jumping about, moaning and crying about a close loss, while Jerry would quietly walk up to my window, look and me with a little cat-eating- mouse grin and hand me another winning...

Rest in peace shipmate.

past and present.

Jerry was like a father to me. When I was 18 and still in high school I left home and Jerry and Penny took me in. They allowed me to live with their family for nearly a year and until I graduated and was able to go out on my own. I'll always love him and be grateful for what he did for me.

So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. May God give you strength and may all your wonderful memories carry you through this sad time. The Holmes Family

For My Friend

Sail On, Sweet Sailor, Sail On

Dorene & I enjoyed our friendship and their hosptality with Jerry and Penny during our active years with OSEA. I was on a fast track to be OSEA president after being vice president. Jerry was sadly looking at leaving the Board after many years of great service. It was a great thing for OSEA when I moved into a excluded state position and dropped out of the presidential campaign and Jerry was swept into that office. He was truly "Mr. Retirement" and "Mr. OSEA."

I saw the notice in the Oregonian this morning and regret that I will be out of town until Sunday and unable to attend the funeral. Jerry was such a mentor to me when I was a retirement counselor at PERS. So very knowledgeable and always so positive and optimistic. I remember one day when I brought my son David to visit the office, Jerry noticed that one of David's front teeth was missing so Jerry teased him about perhaps eating too many apples. Diane and I will never forget the countless...

You were loved much. You always had time to show me your patience and kindness...may you rest peacefully, Jerry.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
