Not sure what to say?

Thanks to Kathleen for letting me know, via FB. I grew up down the street from the Mahers, and Gerry was always my favorite of the boys. We hung out a bit in our teens. He was funny, a quick wit, sharp but never mean. He was a real gentleman in the best sense of the word. Though I haven't seen him in donkey's years, I feel the grief of his absence across that long divide. May you, his family in the broadest sense of that word, feel comforted in hour grief by knowing it's shared.

To his family: Gerry was a great friend, and I shall miss him dearly. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family, and offer this little essay as a gift in his memory. https://tinyurl.com/yckdm9ew

Emily-Rose, Eliza, and Patrick--- My deepest condolences over the loss of your father. We had some great times together at the Irish and in the Park! I remember many a Saturday afternoon between shows when you three had dinner at ICTC with the cast. Your dad was a kind and intelligent man and the lynch pin to any WNY Kevin Bacon connection! I see his smile as I write! My deepest sympathy!

We always enjoyed watching Jerry at Shakespeare In The Park and his fun reaction when collecting donations at intermission and he saw friends. Special person in so many ways

I will remember Gerry for his smile, his humility, and his kindness. He loved the theatre. He loved the work. He loved the plays. He was a wonderful actor. I was lucky to be among those who shared the stage with him. He gave so much joy and laughter to his friends, those who played with him on stage, and all those who were fortunate to see him in his numerous characters over the years. He lit up the world with that gentle smile. I loved him. Everyone did. My deepest condolences to his family,...

We were friends with Gerry for over 50 years and considered him family. He was in our wedding party and, through him, we met the whole, wonderful Maher family. Gerry and I were kindred spirits. We shared a passion for literature, especially Irish literature and poetry , and above all, a passion for movies. He loved movies more than almost any friend I ever had. We had a particular favorite, "On the Waterfront ". I will mis his hugs, his almost shy smile, his great laugh and out discussions...

Still grappling with the fact that the world is a much lesser place without him. Loved him so much.

Gerry was a good friend who graduated with me from the Prep in 1966. He was a feisty and very quick witted person and a joy to call friend. RIP.
