NORTH ATTLEBORO - Gerard R. Michaud of Broad Street died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro at age 81. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Goddard) Michaud for over 56 years.

Born September 16, 1928 in Seekonk, he was a son of the late Oscar and Rose (Beldue) Michaud.

Gerard grew up in Seekonk and has been a resident of North Attleboro for over forty years.

He retired in 1993 as a general foreman for Vappi Construction where he worked for nearly 30 years and was a member of Union Local 22. Gerard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He recently has worked part-time at Sears.

Gerard loved playing golf and played in a league at Chemawa Golf Course for many years. He also loved playing cards with his family and going to Casino's to play slot machines. He was also an avid woodworker.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Michael Michaud of CO and Richard and Robert Michaud both of North Attleboro; a daughter, Linda Michaud of North Attleboro; two sisters, Estelle Michaud of FL, Dorothy Costa of RI; a brother, Raymond Michaud of FL; a granddaughter, Amanda Michaud and many nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Mabel Laswell and Donia, Norman and Albert Michaud.

Funeral services with burial in Rhode Island National Cemetery will be held privately.
